About The Anglican School Googong

The Anglican School Googong, established in 2015 and located in Googong township south of Queanbeyan, offers a co-educational, open-entry education from Pre-School to Year 12. The campus features modern facilities, including a Science and Technology hub and modular classrooms, supporting a comprehensive educational experience that promotes active thinkers and lifelong learners, with over 500 students enrolled as of 2023.

The Requirement

To enhance the safety of the school pickup, drop-off, and car park areas by clearly demarcating pedestrian and traffic zones.

The Challenges

• Compatibility with Existing Infrastructure: The school needs to ensure that the chosen safety products are compatible with the current layout and infrastructure. This includes considering the design, materials, and installation processes, which might be complex if the existing setup does not easily accommodate new additions.
• Durability and Maintenance: Products selected must be durable enough to withstand constant use and varying weather conditions. Schools need to evaluate the longevity and maintenance requirements of materials like paint for markings, bollards, and barriers to avoid frequent replacements and repairs.
• Installation Disruptions: Installing safety products can disrupt normal school operations. Selecting products that are simple to install and planning the installation process to minimise disruptions and ensure student safety during this period is a significant challenge.

After evaluating the challenges and  requirements, The Anglican School Googong selected a few key products, including the Heavy Duty Industrial Swing Gate - Manual (Black), 140mm Steel Bollard - Black (Base Plate) and Surex Pedestrian Rail - 1000(H)mm Kit (Black).

The Heavy Duty Industrial Swing Gate - Manual (Black) offers the following features:

• Heavy-Duty Construction: The beam is made from heavy-duty aluminium, while the support bars and hinge assembly are constructed from high-quality galvanised steel. This ensures durability and resistance to harsh environmental conditions.
• Versatile Mounting Options: The gate can be mounted on bollards, walls, or existing posts, offering versatility in installation. It is important to note that mounting bolts are not provided.
• Security Features: A gate receiver, which can be padlocked for extra security, is available separately. This adds an additional layer of security, making it suitable for restricted areas.
• Customisable Lengths and Colours: The gate comes in standard lengths of 2 metres, 3 metres, and 4 metres, but can be customised to any length within this range. Standard colour options are yellow and black, with custom colours available through our in-house powder coating plant.

• Durability and Corrosion Resistance: Made from high-strength steel with a 5mm wall thickness, hot-dip galvanised, and powder-coated for added protection. This combination ensures the bollards are extremely durable and resistant to rust and corrosion, making them ideal for long-term use in various outdoor environments.
• Enhanced Safety and Security: Designed to provide a robust physical barrier with an extra thick base plate and double weld for added strength. These bollards effectively separate pedestrians from vehicles and protect high-value structures, significantly enhancing safety and security in high-traffic areas.
• Versatile Applications: Available in multiple sizes, this allows for flexibility in different applications, making these bollards suitable for commercial properties, parking lots, pedestrian areas, and industrial complexes.
• Ease of Installation: The base plate design allows for easy surface mounting, which simplifies the installation process, reducing the need for extensive groundwork, making it ideal for retrofitting existing sites quickly and efficiently.

The Surex Pedestrian Rail - 1000(H)mm Kit (Black). offers the following features:

• Heavy-Duty Construction: Made from 48mm horizontal rails and posts with heavy-duty galvanised cast fittings, this ensures the rail system is robust and durable, capable of withstanding heavy use and harsh environmental conditions, providing long-term reliability.
• Modular Design: The Surex Pedestrian Rail is supplied in a kit form with various fittings and accessories.
